Roswell just made it easier for residents to ask for open records

The Gist: Roswell residents can now file open records requests in an easier and more efficient manner thanks to a new web-based system the city is implementing to handle those requests.

What’s New: Residents will be able to use an online form to make open records requests.

What the process before: Residents who wanted to make open records requests had to either email the city or download a form to fill out and either fax or hand-deliver it to city hall.

When does the new system start?: According to city officials, the new online form will be available starting October 15.

Where can I find it: The form can be accessed at www.roswellgov.com/OpenRecords.

What they’re saying about it: Roswell’s City Clerk, Marlee Press, said the new system will be more efficient and save residents and the city time and money. “The city’s new system will help streamline the open records request process for citizens and improve efficiencies for staff — saving time, money and resources,” she said

More Information: The new system, called JustFOIA, was designed specifically by government technology solutions company MCCi to help manage and track public records requests and is now used by local government agencies throughout the country.
