North Georgia could get up to three inches of snow tonight

Snow has already started falling in parts of North Georgia, but temperatures aren’t low enough yet to cause it to accumulate.

That will change starting around 6 p.m. tonight when the wintery mix is expected to turn into snow and could accumulate between one to three inches Saturday night and into Sunday morning.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Union, Towns, Lumpkin and White counties beginning this evening and running through Sunday morning. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible with higher amounts at elevations exceeding 1500 feet.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Dawson, Pickens, Gilmer, and Fannin counties as a wintery mix will gradually turn to snow overnight. An inch of snow is possible here with locally higher amounts in higher elevations.
