Former Georgia deputy arrested on suspicion of being ‘sexually involved’ with an inmate

CUMMING — A former Forsyth County Sheriff’s Deputy has been arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

On Tuesday, the GBI arrested former Forsyth County Deputy Nicholas Maddox, of Dawsonville, for suspected Sexual Assault by a Person of Supervisory or Disciplinary Authority.

Maddox was booked by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and is out on bond.

On May 26, 2020, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office asked that the GBI investigate allegations that Maddox was sexually involved with a Forsyth County inmate while working in the jail in 2015.

According to the GBI, as a result of the investigation, Maddox was charged in this case.

Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be provided to the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit District Attorney for prosecution.
