Coronavirus Update: Georgia sets new record for deaths in one day

The Gist: Georgia set another grim record today, topping its daily coronavirus death toll for the second time this week. The number of deaths from COVID-19 reported today was 159.

The seven day average for deaths is also at an all time high of 99 deaths per day. Below is a chart showing the skyrocketing numbers of deaths from the virus in Georgia.

In addition to the death toll, hospitalizations continue to be elevated. The state reported 315 new hospitalizations today.
