Albany police warn of recent vehicle thefts

ALBANY — The Albany police department is reporting a rash of vehicle thefts throughout the city involving cars that have been left unattended and running.

Police report that in the last three days eight cars were stolen after being left unattended and running while parked at stores. The department is reminding residents to take the following precautions to make sure they don’t fall victim to these crimes.

  • Keep your vehicle locked at all times, this includes when you are driving.
  • Never leave your keys in the car while parked.
  • Never leave your car running and unattended.
  • Avoid leaving any valuables in your car.
  • Don’t leave your vehicle title in the car.
