DECATUR — DeKalb County’s tree lighting event will continue despite the COVID-19 pandemic, but will be socially distanced.

DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson will host the 13th annual tree lighting event, Tuesday, December 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Porter Sanford, III Performing Arts and Community Center.

This year due to COVID-19, the event will be held outdoors. Social distancing and masks are required in order to attend the tree lighting.

“I don’t want our community to lose hope and sharing in moments like these will help people to keep perspective and know that we will be alright as we work together and encourage one another during these times,” Johnson said.

The tree lighting is free and open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend for the lighting of DeKalb’s’ great tree.
