ALPHARETTA — The 2020 holiday season will look different for many reasons. The City of Alpharetta still plans to continue with traditional, magical décor and events — doing it this year in a way that families can safely enjoy. As in years past, the City will be decorated for the season including the life-sized nutcrackers and lights on the Town Green, as well as twinkling lights brightening Brooke Street Park and the streets of downtown Alpharetta.

The first three Fridays of December are forecasting falling snow on the Town Green, which residents can enjoy while supporting Alpharetta’s many local boutiques and restaurants. Families and friends can take a self-guided stroll through Alpharetta’s winter wonderland by downloading the city’s holiday map at https://bit.ly/2020AlpharettaHolidayMapandEvents.

“This holiday season we wanted the Alpharetta community and its visitors to be able to come downtown and make memories, take family photos and even say hi to Santa,” said Morgan Rodgers, Alpharetta Recreation, Parks & Cultural Services Director. “Folks can stay safe and do what makes them feel comfortable while celebrating together.”

On Dec. 12 and 13, Santa Claus will be waving to children from atop an Alpharetta fire truck. Families are invited to drive through the Wills Park Pool parking lot between 2 to 5 p.m., drop a letter in Santa’s mailbox, and wave hello to Santa himself.

“Santa Claus is one of the magical elements of the holidays for children, and we didn’t want Alpharetta to miss it this year,” said Rodgers. “We are happy to be able to bring this joyous element to the community in a way that works for all.”

Below are the holiday events planned by the city:

SNOW IN DOWNTOWN ALPHARETTA

Fridays, Dec 4, 11 & 18; 6pm-7pm

A flurry of snow is coming to Alpharetta’s Town Green from 6-7pm on the first three Fridays in December! The snowy spectacle is free for the public to enjoy, along with the return of the handmade, life-size nutcrackers and beautiful winter décor lining the streets of boutique shops and restaurants.

DRIVE-THRU SANTA VISITS AT WILLS PARK POOL

Sat & Sun, Dec 12-13; 2pm-5pm

Bring the whole family for a Santa visit from the comfort of your car, at the Wills Park pool parking lot. Santa will be waving hello from atop an Alpharetta Fire Truck.
