Longtime employee accused of stealing $4.5 million from Georgia business

ALMA — A long-time employee of a South Georgia meat company was arrested Friday. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, she is being accused of stealing about $4.5 million from the company over a 10 year time period.

The GBI arrested 54-year-old Constance “Connie” Johnson, 54, and charged her with Felony Theft By Taking.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2019, the GBI’s Douglas Regional Office was asked by the Waycross Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office to conduct an investigation regarding the allegation of theft from D.L. Lee & Sons Meats in Alma. Johnson was arrested as a result of that investigation.
