Georgia jailer jailed after an inmate was assaulted

A 23-year-old Ware County jailer was arrested following the assault of an inmate.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Ware County Jailer Larry David Ross III, was arrested Friday on charges of Violation of Oath of Office and Battery.

The GBI was asked by the Ware County Sheriff’s Office to investigate allegations that Ross assaulted Ware County Jail inmate Devante Shaquil Wells of Waycross.

Wells was arrested earlier Friday on charges of criminal trespass and battery stemming from an incident that morning.

Ross will be booked into the Ware County Jail. He has worked at the jail for less than 2 years.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
