Tommy Joe Byrd, who was arrested in connection with the death of Jerald Jerome Bowden earlier this month has been charged with Bowden’s murder, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Byrd and his brother Tommy Roger Byrd were arrested previously and charged with tampering with evidence in relation to the stabbing incident that killed Bowden.

According to the GBI, in the early morning hours of May 4, Morgan County 911 received a call stating that several individuals had been in an altercation resulting in at least one individual being stabbed.

Deputies immediately responded to the area of Sandy Creek Road in Madison, but all parties involved were no longer present. A couple of hours later, Walton County 911 received a call of an unresponsive man located off a roadway outside of Monroe.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to find 58-year-old Jerald Jerome Bowden, of Walton County, dead from what appeared to be stab wounds.
