Three employees arrested in connection with Georgia Waffle House robberies

MACON — Three suspects were taken into custody in connection to the March Armed Robbery of the Waffle House, at 5440 Bowman Road in Macon. Law enforcement and Waffle House officials say they believe the suspects in this robbery may have been involved in other Waffle House robberies as well.

According to sheriff’s officials, during the course of the investigation into the Waffle House armed robbery, investigators spoke with the Waffle House corporate office and discovered that the same three individuals may have been involved in seven other armed robberies of Waffle Houses, located throughout the state of Georgia. Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators contacted members of the FBI for assistance in enhancing the video evidence from the Bowman Road armed robbery.

After having the video footage enhanced, the three suspects were identified, and Bibb Sheriff’s Investigators had warrants issued for their arrests.

Two of the suspects were taken into custody in Clayton County, by members of the FBI Friday. The third suspect was located on Interstate 475 after a tip was received that he would be traveling through Bibb County.

Members of the Bibb Sheriff’s Special Response Team, Patrol Division, Investigations Division, and members from the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force were able to take the third suspect into custody, without incident.

While the suspects were being interviewed, officers discovered that all three were employees of a Waffle House, located in Clayton County.

All three suspects are currently being held in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center without bond. The three suspects are listed below.

Johnny Leon Anthony, age 27, from Riverdale, Georgia. He is charged with Armed Robbery. (taken into custody in Clayton County)

Darien Jermaine Anthony, age 25, also from Riverdale, Georgia. (Jermaine Anthony is the brother of Johnny Anthony). He is charged with Armed Robbery. He also has a “hold” for warrants from Monroe County. (taken into custody in Bibb County)

Myia Lasheay Thompson, age 20, from Jonesboro, Georgia. Thompson is charged with Armed Robbery. (taken into custody in Clayton County)
