I-75/I-85 after Edgewood Avenue will be closed early Thursday morning to reconstruct a fatal car crash

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Police Department will be closing a portion of I-75/I-85 before daybreak Thursday to reconstruct a fatal crash that happened April 20.

The portion of the Interstate will close Thursday, April 30, starting at 3:30 a.m. and will result in the closing of I-75/I-85 North after the Edgewood Avenue exit. The reconstruction is estimated to last about one hour.

The crash occurred on April 20, at about 4:50 a.m. and resulted in the death of two men. The two victims had been in a vehicle traveling north on the highway when they were involved in a single-car crash and stopped in the center of the highway.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, after that crash the two victims got outside of their vehicle and were struck by a second vehicle. The second vehicle, a Ford Explorer, did not stop at the scene.

The driver of the Explorer was later arrested.
