DeKalb inmate who escaped from Grady captured

ATLANTA — A DeKalb County inmate who escaped from Grady Memorial Hospital last week as been recaptured.

Decatur resident Torinto Antoine Christian is back in custody at the DeKalb County Jail. After a brief foot chase, sheriff’s investigators arrested him without incident Saturday evening at a gas station on Moreland Avenue in Atlanta.

Christian was initially arrested Monday, April 13, 2020 and booked into the DeKalb County Jail on warrants charging him with Kidnapping and Aggravated Assault.

Investigators say Christian asked for medical assistance while in his cell and was transported to Grady, where he slipped out of his handcuffs and fled.
