MACON — A macon man is in police custody after sheriff’s department officials say he was caught on surveillance video robbing a local Ms. Winner’s restaurant.

Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies arrested the suspect moments after they say he burglarized the business. Deputies were able to identify and arrest 54-year-old, Willie Porter III of Macon, for the burglary that occurred at Mrs. Winner’s Chicken & Biscuits located at 2419 Pio Nono Avenue April 6 at 4:04 a.m.

Sheriff’s officials say Porter was identified as the suspect from the store’s video surveillance system. On the surveillance Porter is seen entering the store by smashing the front glass door with a brick. Porter then enters the restaurant freezer and takes a large box of chicken.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the chicken was recovered on a makeshift grill that Porter was in the process of cooking it on.

Porter was taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and charged with Burglary. He is being held without bond at this time.
