Georgia’s coronavirus cases continue to escalate, with the state passing the 2,000 confirmed cases mark as of noon Friday.
The Georgia Department of Public Health reports there are now 2,001 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Georgia. There have now been 64 deaths from the virus and 566 patients have been hospitalized. The state’s death rate from the virus is 3.2% and the hospitalization rate is about 28%.
So far the state has processed 9,865 tests.
Dougherty County continues to be a hotbed for the virus, and now has 193 cases, up from 156 cases at noon yesterday. Fulton County still has the highest number of cases in the state with 307, up from 211 yesterday.
