Atlanta Man Wanted for Shooting Ex-girlfriend in Front of One-year-old Child

Gwinnett Count Police are searching for an Atlanta man in on the run after police say he shot his ex-girlfriend while dropping off diapers at her Snellville home. Their one-year-old child was outside with them, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to a “person shot” call on Laurel Bend Court in unincorporated Snellville at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

According to a family member, the woman’s ex-boyfriend was supposed to be dropping off diapers at the home when he shot his 22-year old ex-girlfriend in the driveway of the home. The family member told police that after shooting the woman, the suspect then fired multiple rounds at the home. Family members inside the house were unharmed. 

The motivation for the incident is still under investigation.  

The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Atlanta resident Venezia O. Cole. He was seen fleeing the area in a black 2009 Infiniti G37 with temporary tag number P0945250. Cole has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, cruelty to children 1st degree, possession of a firearm during a felony and criminal damage to property 2nd degree.

Police are asking anyone who knows of Cole’s whereabouts to contact detectives at 770-513-5300.
