Coronavirus update: Some Fulton County schools dismissed early after employee tests positive for coronavirus

FULTON COUNTY — The Fulton County School system was alerted today that one of its employees had a confirmed case of coronavirus.

The employee is an itinerate teacher who travels between Bear Creek Middle School in Fairburn and Woodland Middle School in East Point.

According to Fulton County Schools Superintendent Mike Looney, the teacher was feeling ill at school on Friday and 911 was called from the school on the teacher’s behalf.

It is unknown how the teacher contracted the virus.

The school system has dismissed students in the impacted schools and will be closed Tuesday to clean and disinfect all Fulton County Schools. The school system has not yet determined if it will be open on Wednesday.
