Will it snow in north Georgia on Saturday?

The Gist: Snow has been predicted for north Georgia on Saturday. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it will definitely snow and current models show that the below freezing temperatures may not line up with the precipitation. If it does line up, it could mean about an inch of snow Saturday morning.

The weather alert: The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for north Georgia from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

What to expect: Expect snow that is mixed with rain at times. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches, possibly three to four
inches at higher elevations. Amounts of generally less than an inch will be possible for the metro Atlanta area. Expect icy conditions on roads and bridges.

How long will it last?: Temperatures are expected to warm by afternoon, but rain will continue to fall, creating slush if there is accumulation. However, the northeast mountains could continue to see periods of snow through the day. Temperatures should drop below freezing again Saturday night, making black ice possible on Sunday morning.

Where could it snow?: Snow is most likely in the following counties:

Banks

Fannin
