Georgia mother charged with murder in suffocation death of 4-year-old girl

GAINESVILLE — A 32-year-old mother has been charged with the murder of her four month old daughter in Gainesville.

On Dec. 16. just after 7 a.m., Gainesville police officers responded to the Summit Street Apartments for an emergency call in reference to an unresponsive child.

Emergency personnel initially responded to this location due to a call for medical service involving four-month-old girl. Upon arriving on scene, officers discovered that the child was found unresponsive and was immediately transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

She was later pronounced dead.

According to the Gainesville Police Department, the mother allegedly suffocated her child.

Police have charged the child’s mother, 32-year-old LaQuicia Jackson with murder and she is being held at the Hall County Detention Center.
