Alpharetta police say they have received no reports of abduction attempts

ALPHARETTA — Despite a flurry of social media posts warning women of possible abduction attempts for human trafficking in North Fulton, the Alpharetta Police Department says it hasn’t received any official reports about the incidents.

In a post on the department’s Facebook Page, officials with the police department are reminding residents to contact police if they feel threatened in public places and to involve the police instead of relying on solely on social media to get the word out.

Police officials say they have not taken any reports related to sex trafficking or abduction attempts.

Some neighboring police agencies have reported incients of aggressive panhandling, but no recent abduction attempts have been reported.

“We always think it is a good idea to be aware of your surroundings. Please do not hesitate to call 911 immediately if you find yourself in a situation like this. Do not just rely on social media to share the information,” the department said in the post on its Facebook page.
