FORSYTH COUNTY — A 28-year-old Roswell man drowned in a lake in Forsyth County over the weekend.

On Nov. 16, at 6:37 p.m., the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the Fire Department responded to a 911 call to the 5300 block of Dahlonega Highway in reference to a drowning at a local lake.

“Once we arrived, we were met by an eyewitness who saw a capsized Jon boat and a male in the water prior to going under. We immediately started a search and rescue mission to find him,” said Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater.

Throughout the evening, authorities searched for the man in the water. The search resumed on Sunday morning the 17th.

At 3:10 p.m., the Forsyth County Fire Department Dive Team recovered the man from the water.

The man was identified as Saul Sanchez of Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab will be performing an autopsy.
