44-year-old Snellville man dies after early morning motorcycle crash

SNELLVILLE — A Snellville man died after crashing his motorcycle on Parkwood Road early this morning.

At about 12:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to an accident on Parkwood Road in unincorporated Snellville. According to the caller, a motorcycle driver was lying unconscious in the driveway of a home.

The Gwinnett County Fire Department confirmed that the driver was deceased, and the Accident Investigation Unit was dispatched.

According to the Gwinnett County Police Dept., the preliminary investigation shows that 44-year-old George Butler of Snellville was driving southbound on Parkwood Road towards Centerville Highway when he lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve.

Butler was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest in a nearby driveway.

“George Butler’s helmet was not properly secured and had come off during the collision,” said Gwinnett Police spokeswoman Michele Pihera.

Rider inexperience and speed are being investigated as possible contributing factors.
