Freaknik is back and it starts Friday

ATLANTA — It’s been 20 years, but Freaknik is coming back to Atlanta June 22.

The festival that was known as black spring break in the 90s is back this summer with a massive lineup of talent and events fit to welcome back hip-hop’s favorite festival.

Guests can expect performances from rap favorites including Uncle Luke, Bun B, Juvenile, Da Brat, Foxy Brown, Trina, Ying Yang Twins, Pastor Troy, Lil’ Bankhead, DJ Unk, and more.

Here’s this year’s lineup:

Thursday, June 20: The weekend kicks off at 10:00pm with “I Love the 90s,” an open bar party at Aurum Lounge.

The night continues at Suite Lounge for the official Freaknik kickoff party with V103. Attendees with Freaknik tickets enjoy free admission until 1 a.m.

Saturday, June 22: Freaknik and Streetz 94.5 are doing  good with a community service cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon including a live DJ, complimentary food (with RSVP), ticket giveaways, and more. Sunday, June 23: Brunch gets an elevated experience with the CannaBrunch Freakshow from Noon to 5 p.m. Guests will enjoy infused treats, hookah, live DJ, and brunch menu at a secret location. Freaknik began as a small picnic in 1983, but took off in the 90s as a streetfest that brought more than 200,000 people to Atlanta. The festival died down by the year 2000 due to protests from local business owners and a heightened police presence.
