NORCROSS — A 70-year-old Lilburn resident is dead after an early morning crash involving his motorcycle on Singleton Road.

The Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the incident, which took place at about 1 a.m. Monday. Police say there were three vehicles involved.

70-year-old Miguel Maldonado-Lemus was driving a black motorcycle. Police say they believe he was attempting to make a right turn onto Singleton Road from a private drive.

The driver of a grey Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Singleton Road in the left lane.

“Miguel turned in front of the Toyota causing them to collide. He was thrown off the motorcycle and landed in the westbound lanes,” Gwinnett County Police Dept. spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said in a statement.

“While he was in the lying in the roadway, he was struck by a grey Nissan Sentra traveling westbound on Singleton Road,” Pihera said.

Maldonado-Lemus died as a result of his injuries. There were no other reported injuries to the other drivers. They both remained at the scene.

All three vehicles were impounded to GCPD Headquarters for further analysis.
