Fulton County will host a signing day for non-athletes

Fulton County Schools will be recognizing about 25 Fulton County seniors who are not participating in sports signing day festivities with a signing day of their own for entering the workforce or committing to careers in education.

The school system is hosting its first Career Pathways Signing Day, a celebration of students who are entering the workforce following high school or committing to an education degree in college to become teachers. The ceremony will be held May 9 at 10 a.m.

Students will sign letters of intent for careers in specific industries following high school and college.

The keynote speaker at the event will be community leader Rodney Sampson, Nonresident Senior Fellow of the Metropolitan Policy Program.

The Career, Techinical and Agricultural Education programs and pathways allow students to apply mathematics, science and communication competencies in laboratory and occupational settings that develop specific technical skills applicable in broad concentration areas.

Career Pathways consist of apprenticeship, construction and film, and students entering the teaching profession after college.
