After a Tuesday primary, which saw him defeat Byron Amos for the District 3 city council post, Antonio Brown will become the city of Atlanta’s newest city council member.
Brown is the 34-year-old CEO of LVL XIII, a luxury men’s fashion brand. He is also the founder of Dream of Humanity, a nonprofit that provides entrepreneurial programs and training designed to empower economically disadvantaged communities.
Brown also created The Antonio Brown Scholarship to help send children who have been impacted by HIV and AIDS to summer camps.
The newly elected councilman will become the first openly gay black candidate to be elected to the city council.
The race was won by a razor-thin margin with Brown winning by just 82 votes. Only 1,256 people voted in the runoff election.
Brown was elected to fill the vacant seat of Ivory Lee Young, Jr. who died of cancer in November. The seat will be up for election again in 2021.
Brown will be officially sworn in April 22.
