Zoo Atlanta celebrates Wild Winter Days

We may not be experiencing much winter weather this year, but Wild Winter Days have arrived at Zoo Atlanta. Guests can enjoy the zoo’s cool-weather experiences at an exclusive seasonal discount. Now through February 28, 2019, general admission is 25 percent off across all categories.

Giant pandas Lun Lun and Yang Yang and their youngest offspring, 2-year-old twins Ya Lun and Xi Lun, are frequently seen in their outdoor habitats in winter. Native to cool, high-elevation mountain forests in China, giant pandas have dense, woolly, slightly oily coats that make them well-adapted for cold weather. Like the giant pandas, Idgie the red panda may also be found enjoying the outdoors on some of Atlanta’s coldest days. Red pandas are native to the Himalayas.

Tuscany, Warrior and Smurf the Huacaya alpacas are also well-adapted for cooler temperatures, thanks to their fleece. Chilean flamingos, which may be found in high elevations in the southern Andes Mountains, may be seen in Flamingo Plaza and in the Zoo’s Wonderful Wetlands area, which is now the home of the nine chicks hatched in late summer.

All animal activities are weather-permitting and may be subject to change due to weather conditions or temperatures. Regardless of temperatures, the Zoo’s Scaly Slimy Spectacular: The Amphibian and Reptile Experience is a tropical indoor destination and is home to African slender-snouted crocodiles, Georgia native diamondback terrapins and scores of other reptiles and amphibians from around the world.

The Wild Winter Days promotion is valid only through February 28, 2019, and is available online at zooatlanta.org or in person at Zoo Atlanta Admissions. The discount may not be combined with any other offer or promotion.

Ask any Zoo Admissions associate for updated information on animal habitats. Plan your visit and create a personal itinerary at zooatlanta.org.
