The Children’s Museum of Atlanta wants families to jumpstart 2019 with a new selection of January programs. Children will be able to build bubble wands on New Year’s Day, hear Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous speech and score big during special football themed events. Children of all ages can also explore the new feature exhibit Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action, opening on January 19.
New Year’s Day
Tuesday, January 1
Out with the old and in with the new Families can ring in the New Year with special activities, including crafting dazzling crowns, diving into the science of bubbles and building magical bubble wands. The Imaginators will also be celebrating the last day of Kwanza with a variety of cultural performances and stories.
Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action Grand Opening
Saturday, January 19
Children’s Museum of Atlanta is welcoming a brand-new feature exhibit encouraging families to get up and be active while learning how to keep growing bodies happy and healthy. During opening day festivities, active kiddos can pop by the Art Studio for splatter painting or run over to the Build It Lab to explore the skeleton puzzle. Special guests will also be onsite to talk about the importance of health.
Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday
Monday, January 21
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, Imaginator Jerry White will recite King’s infamous “I Have A Dream” speech for little ones to learn more about the impact he had on the Civil Rights Movement. To continue the fun, kids can stop by the Art studio and create an “I Have A Dream” template painting or head on over to the science bar and learn about the wonder of color theory, prisms and optical illusions. Finally, families can visit the themed Readers Theatre to hear stories about Martin Luther King Jr.
National Kazoo Day
Monday, January 28
Kiddos can buzz over to Children’s Museum of Atlanta to pay tribute to everyone’s favorite quirky instrument, the kazoo. Little musicians will learn about the science of sound at the Science Bar as well as create their own kazoo in the Art Studio. Plus, the Imaginators will read “The Duck Who Played the Kazoo” and lead a kazoo parade around the museum during Music and Movement.

Calling all sports fans: Families are invited to celebrate football and learn about various sports at Children’s Museum of Atlanta. Little all-stars can learn the importance of staying active during the Planet Rock mini-musical or participate in the Tiny Football Combine during the daily Music and Movement programs. Kids will also be able to explore the science behind sports equipment at the Science Bar or build mini goal posts and finger footballs for an at-home field goal practice in the Build It Lab. Finally, little sports lovers can stop by the Art Studio to make cheerleading pom-poms or design a sports jersey.
Interim Programming: A Better Me, A Better You
January 7-January 18
Kiddos can learn all about emotions with the help of the Imaginators and beloved emojis during A Better Me, A Better You programming. Featuring interactive song and dance, little ones will learn how to identify feelings as well as how to read the emotions of others. Whether crafting a paper plate emoji wheel in the Art Studio or constructing a Friendship Box in the Build It Lab, children will learn how emotions affect themselves as well as others around them.
Feature Exhibit: Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action™

Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action allows children to enter an interactive world to learn the importance of health and wellness. Visitors are invited to visit Children’s Museum of Atlanta to explore the exhibit that helps families get up and get moving, while exercising their brains at the same time. From catching the perfect wave on a motion-sensing surfboard to perfecting the three principles of kung fu in a bamboo forest, children will learn new ways to stay active while enjoying extreme sports and activities. Tiny Club Monday

Kiddos can choose between TiNY Science Club and TiNY Artist Club to enjoy a 30-minute class designed especially for kids ages 2 through 5 and their caregivers. Families can also check out TiNY Builder Club, a drop-in class held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Each program offers hands-on activities, professional instruction and the chance to earn something new.
Messy Thursdays

Little visitors and guardians are invited to get messy. Messy Thursdays offer slime, finger painting and more. Let the Children’s Museum of Atlanta clean up the mess while the little ones have a blast. There are new, messy activities every week to try, offering endless opportunities.
Toddler Jam Fridays

Rock and roll into the weekend with this high energy, music-filled class guaranteed to shake out the wiggles and foster a love of music. Each week offers new songs, instrument play, circle time activities and, of course, dance breaks.
