Have a medical condition? This Yellow Dot could save your life

The News: Georgia’s Yellow Dot program is expanding to Dunwoody. According to Dunwoody police officials, Yellow Dot is a free program designed to help first responders provide life-saving medical attention during the first “golden hour” after a crash or other emergency.

How does it work?: Residents who have a medical condition or need first responders to know their medical condition can place a  yellow, peach-shaped decal on the driver side rear window of a vehicle to alert first responders that vital medical information is stored in the glove compartment.

Placing the decal at the entrance to a home will signal to emergency responders that medical information is stored in the refrigerator.

Who can use the Yellow Dot?: Georgia’s Yellow Dot Program can be used by anyone but may be most helpful for:
• People with multiple or serious medical conditions
• People with severe allergies
• Children with special needs
• Individuals with dementia who may be prone to driving

More Information on Yellow Dot: The Yellow Dot program started as a pilot program in Athens-Clarke and Laurens Counties. It is now beginning to expand to other areas.
